Getting Started

How do I log my first brew?

Open BrewGPT and tap the "New Brew" tab. Select your brewing preset (Espresso, Pour Over, etc.), fill in the quick-entry fields like dose, yield, and brew time, then tap "Save & Rate" to log your brew and get AI advice.

What presets are available?

BrewGPT includes presets for Espresso, Pour Over (V60), French Press, AeroPress, Moka Pot, and Cold Brew. Each preset comes with relevant fields pre-configured for that brewing method.

Can I customize the fields shown?

Yes! Tap the settings icon in the New Brew screen to toggle which fields appear in quick entry. You can also add custom numeric fields specific to your workflow.

AI Advice & Professor Bean

How does the AI advice work?

After logging a brew, rate it with thumbs up or down and select taste notes (sour, bitter, balanced, etc.). Professor Bean analyzes your parameters and feedback to suggest specific adjustments for your next shot.

Why are Professor Bean's suggestions sometimes different?

Professor Bean considers multiple factors including your brew parameters, taste feedback, and brewing trends. Suggestions are personalized to help you dial in based on your specific feedback.

What do the different Professor Bean images mean?

Professor Bean's appearance reflects the nature of the advice - celebrating great shots, offering encouragement for near-misses, or providing stern guidance when major adjustments are needed.

Apple Watch

How do I use the Watch timer?

Open BrewGPT on your Apple Watch, then press and hold to start the timer. Tap once to mark preinfusion complete and continue to full brew time. When done, the "Send & Reset" button sends times to your iPhone.

Why aren't my Watch times appearing on iPhone?

Make sure both devices are connected (Bluetooth enabled, Watch paired). After tapping "Send & Reset" on your Watch, open the New Brew screen on iPhone - the times should auto-fill. If not, try restarting both apps.

Weather & Location

Why does BrewGPT need my location?

Location is used only to fetch local weather conditions (temperature, humidity, pressure) which can affect extraction. This data stays on your device and is never shared. You can disable this in Settings.

Can I use the app without location access?

Absolutely! Location is optional. Weather fields simply won't auto-fill, but you can still log all other brew parameters normally.

Bluetooth & Scale

Which coffee scales are supported?

BrewGPT currently supports Bookoo Bluetooth scales. More scales are being added based on user feedback.

My scale won't connect. What should I do?

Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your iPhone, the scale is powered on and in pairing mode, and no other apps are connected to it. Try toggling Bluetooth off/on and restarting the scale.

Data & Privacy

Is my brew data stored in the cloud?

Currently, all data is stored locally on your device. Cloud sync is planned for a future update.

Can I export my brew history?

Export functionality is coming soon in a future update. Stay tuned!

How do I delete my data?

Individual brews can be deleted by swiping left in the History view. To delete all data, uninstall and reinstall the app.
